Horrible news shocked the Dominican Republic's basketball community after it was announced that the team's physio, Bladimir Regalado, had passed away. According to ElPadiTV, Regalado suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during his trip home from the Philippines, where the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 is hosted.

The underdogs won by a score of 102-97 (17-12, 28-33, 24-29, 33-23). The Dominican Republic was leading throughout the majority of the game, but Puerto Ricans made a big run in the fourth quarter.
