Celtics use Williams' shooting to clobber Bucks and reach Eastern Conference finals

Grant Williams exploded for a career-high 27 points and led a defensive charge on Milwaukee star Giannis Antetokounmpo as the host Boston Celtics advanced to the NBA's final four with a 109-81 (20-26, 28-17, 31-21, 30-17) romp over the defending-champion Bucks in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series on Sunday afternoon.

Jayson Tatum chipped in with 23 points and Jaylen Brown 19 for the second-seeded Celtics, who will advance to face the top-seeded Miami Heat in the Eastern Finals. Game 1 is scheduled for Tuesday in Miami.

The Celtics will be making their fourth trip to the Eastern Finals in the last six seasons. They have not advanced to an NBA Finals since 2010, having lost four consecutive times when one step away, twice to the Heat and twice to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bucks pessimistic about Khris Middleton's Game 7 return

The Milwaukee Bucks are said to be pessimistic about a potential Game 7 return for All-Star Khris Middleton.

Middleton, sidelined since April 20 with a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee, recently returned to practice.

The defending champion Bucks face the Celtics in Boston on Sunday with a trip to the Eastern Conference finals on the line.

Per ESPN, the team had been hopeful earlier this week about Middleton playing this weekend. However, those hopes had soured by Saturday.

"Even if the Bucks advance to the conference finals, there'd be pessimism he'd be ready to start," according to an ESPN NBA insider.

Middleton, 30, averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 66 starts during the regular season. The three-time All-Star forward averaged 14.5 points, 7.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in the first two games of Milwaukee's first-round series against the Chicago Bulls before sustaining the injury.

Giannis Antetokounmpo before Game 7: 'No matter what happens, you grow from it'

Win or lose, Giannis Antetokounmpo sees decisive Game 7 as an opportunity to grow as a player and as a leader.

Following the Game 6 defeat against the Boston Celtics, the Greek Freak spoke to the media about the journey ahead and where his mindset is at heading into the ultimate match of the series.

"Me personally, I don't know. I'm going to watch the film in the morning and see. We're going to think about it," the 27-year-old said. "I know we have a great coaching staff, great minds behind the scenes that are gonna tell us what adjustments to do.

But at the end of the day, for me, I just have to go play. Go lead the team in any way I can. I want my teammates to play, I want them to have fun, to enjoy the moment."
