Arturs Zagars is on the verge of finalizing a deal with Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, as reported by Aris Barkas of Eurohoops.
The Latvian playmaker, who garnered attention for his exceptional performance in the recently concluded FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, is expected to sign with the Turkish powerhouse and play on loan in Lithuania with EuroCup team Wolves BC or at least start the season there, per the same report.
Previous reports from BasketNews had suggested that numerous top-tier EuroLeague teams, and even some NBA clubs, had been actively scouting and gathering information on Zagars in recent days.
The 23-year-old has been impressive in the flagship FIBA event, averaging 12.4 points (55.6% 2P, 41.7% 3P). He also contributed 2.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game, all in just 25 minutes of playtime.
Zagars improved the single-game World Cup assists record in the Classification Round game vs. Lithuania. He dished out 17 dimes and surpassed Toni Kukoc (15 AST).
