Dragic, who spent an impressive seven years with the Heat organization, emphasized his deep connection to the community, where he resides with his family.

"I live here," Dragic said, via Brendan Tobin. "My kids are here. So definitely -- if I'm looking to finish my career -- it would be a no-brainer to finish in Miami. This is my home.

"I spent an unbelievable seven years here. I love all the players, all people in the front office, Coach O [Octavio De La Grana], Coach Spo [Erik Spoelstra], Coach Quinny [Chris Quinn]. I mean, those guys give me everything. This is the city that I see myself in the future, so hell yeah, why not?"

Having recently played for the Chicago Bulls and subsequently, the Milwaukee Bucks, Dragic's return to Miami would be warmly welcomed, especially considering his significant contributions to the team's journey to the NBA Finals in the 2019-20 season.

As a one-time All-Star nearing the twilight of his career, Dragic played 51 games in the 2022-23 season as a veteran of the Bulls, averaging 6.4 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.

Following his departure from Chicago, he made a brief appearance in seven games for the Bucks during the regular season, posting 5.6 points in limited playing time.

Dragic initially joined the Heat through a trade with the Phoenix Suns in the 2014-15 season and remained with the franchise until the 2020-21 season.

Despite the Heat's tough choice to part ways with Dragic in the 2021 offseason, completing a sign-and-trade deal for Kyle Lowry, the notion of Dragic returning to Miami holds a captivating appeal. Throughout the years, Miami has maintained a tradition of retaining veteran leaders on its roster, exemplified by Udonis Haslem's enduring presence.
