According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, the Suns are finalizing a deal with former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel to become the new head coach of the franchise.

The two sides have agreed on a five-year $31 million contract, Charania notes.

Vogel guided the Lakers to the 2020 NBA championship. He also led the Indiana Pacers to two consecutive Eastern Conference Finals in 2013 and 2014.

The Suns parted ways with Monty Williams after getting eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals. Throughout his four years with the organization, Williams was elected Coach of the Year in 2022 and brought the team to NBA Finals in 2021. He had three years and more than $20 million left in his contract.
