The two sides will sign a three-year €9 million deal in gross salary.
After spending half a year with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, superstar guard Facundo Campazzo seems to have found his new team.
According to Aris Barkas from Eurohoops, the Argentinian guard has a deal in place with Real Madrid.
The two sides will sign a three-year €9 million deal in gross salary, Barkas reports. This information confirms the earlier report by Noelia Gomez Mira and Guillermo Garcia from Relevo.
Campazzo arrived in Belgrade on a two-year deal on December 19. However, his stint did not go as planned due to EuroLeague's sanctions imposed on Crvena Zvezda which prevented Facu from playing until March.
In 9 games with the Serbian club in the EuroLeague, Facu averaged 15 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.9 steals for 18.7 PIR.
Campazzo previously represented Real jersey from 2014 to 2020.
Contrary to Barkas' claims, Campazzo's salary would not go down to as low as €1.5 million. If he signs with Real Madrid, Campazzo will not be taxed at a 45% rate as a Spanish citizen. He will have received at least five payments from a foreign country after he last received payments in Spain. It would allow him to be taxed like a foreign citizen at only 22%.
Panathinaikos Athens were highly interested in acquiring the guard. The organization offered a 3-year deal with Campazzo earning €2.5 million per season, Kouvaris wrote.
