Birsen's contract will follow the 2+1 formula, which means he will stay with Fenerbahce until the end of the 2025-26 season.
After a long-term extension with Dyshawn Pierre, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul announced another agreement with Metecan Birsen, who is set to stay in Turkey according to the 2+1 formula (until the end of the 2025-26 season).
Birsen embarked on his sporting journey in Fenerbahce's developmental program, eventually earning a spot on the A team during the 2011-12 season. After departing from the squad in the summer of 2014, Birsen pursued his career with various other clubs, including stints with Anadolu Efes and Karsiyaka.
He rejoined the Fenerbahce family in the summer of 2021.
The 28-year-old forward averaged 2.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.5 PIR over 28 EuroLeague games (7 minutes) in 2022-23.
