Nick Nurse will replace Doc Rivers as the 76ers head coach. He won an NBA title with the Raptors in 2019 and was named Coach of the Year the following year.
After parting ways with Doc Rivers, the Philadelphia 76ers seem to have found their new head coach.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN, the former Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse, who was among the top candidates from the very beginning, has reached an agreement with the 76ers to become the successor to Rivers.
The Phoenix Suns were also in negotiations with Nurse, Wojnarowski notes.
Nurse, 55, was named the ninth head coach in Raptors history in 2018 and guided the organization to a 227-163 regular-season record over the course of five seasons.
He led Toronto to the franchise's first NBA Championship in 2019 and was named Coach of the Year the following year after a franchise-best season.
After getting knocked out in the play-in round this year, the Raptors decided to part ways with Nurse.
76ers superstar center Joel Embiid was named the NBA MVP for the 2022-23 season but remains the only winner of such an award without an appearance in the Conference Finals.
