Nico Mannion's contract with Virtus Bologna expires after the 2022-23 season. He is expected to play for the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA Summer League during the offseason.
Virtus Segafredo Bologna guard Niccolo Mannion has already played in the NBA. After two years in Europe, he will try to pursue the NBA dream again.
According to sources, the Italian player is expected to compete in the NBA Summer League on the Milwaukee Bucks roster.
Mannion's contract with Virtus ends after the 2022-23 season.
Before coming to play in Europe in 2021, Mannion played for the Golden State Warriors during the 2020-21 season, logging in 30 games in the NBA, averaging 4.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
He also played for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA G-League. In 9 games with the team, he recorded averages of 19.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.8 steals.
In his first year in Europe at 20 years of age, Mannion did not get significant playing time in the EuroCup, averaging 11 minutes of play and just 2.1 points and 1.7 assists for 0.9 PIR per game. His production slightly increased this season in the EuroLeague - 5.9 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists for 5.3 PIR.
Mannion's numbers in the Italian Lega Basket (LBA) were better during both seasons - 7.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists for 9.1 PIR in 2021-22, and 9.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 3 assists for 8.5 PIR in 2022-23 so far.
