Taking advantage of Efes' day off in the Turkish league, Ergin Ataman traveled to Athens and had a first meeting with the entire front office of his next team, Panathinaikos.

Even though the agreement that will link Ergin Ataman to Panathinaikos Athens for next two years has been reached, it hasn't been announced yet. The reason is that the Turkish coach is still guiding Anadolu Efes Istanbul in the BSL and the upcoming playoffs.

However, the preparation for the 2023/24 season has already started for the Greek side, something that became manifest by the meeting that took place in Athens this Sunday. According to Giorgos Kouvaris of gazzetta.gr, the newly-appointed GM Sani Becirovic, club owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos, and communications director Dimitris Kontos met with Ergin Ataman and his wife in Athens.

Per the same report, some issues regarding the roster ahead of next season were discussed, including the moves that have been made so far and the ones about to follow.

Once the obligations of Anadolu Efes are completed by mid-June, Ataman and his family are expected to move to Athens permanently. Efes are taking on Turkish league leaders and EuroCup finalists Turk Telekom on Saturday, May 13.
