Joel Embiid is on track to return in Game 2 vs. Celtics barring any setbacks.
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is expected to return to action for the Easter Conference semifinal series Game 2 against the Boston Celtics, Shams Charania from The Athletic reports.
Philadelphia 76ers / Schedule
Embiid missed the last two games due to a right knee injury. Embiid suffered the injury in Game 3 of the 76ers first-round series against the Brooklyn Nets.
In the third quarter of that game, he went up to contest a shot by Cameron Johnson and landed in an awkward tangle of limbs alongside the Nets forward. Embiid got up slowly and was flexing his knee in the immediate aftermath but played the remainder of the game.
Embiid was announced as the latest NBA MVP on Tuesday night after averaging 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game over 66 regular season appearances.
The 76ers lead the series against the Celtics 1-0. Game 2 is scheduled on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET in Boston.
