The Houston Rockets have parted ways with their head coach Stephen Silas. The candidates to replace him in the position have already been named.

According to The Athletic, there are six specialists that are viewed as potential suitors:

  • Golden State Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson
  • Former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel
  • Former Charlotte Hornets head coach James Borrego
  • Toronto Raptors assistant coach Adrian Griffin
  • Former Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka

Before taking on as the head coach of the Rockets, Silas spent 20 years as an assistant in the Charlotte Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Washington Wizards, Golden State Warriors, and Dallas Mavericks.

The team is expected to have a list of eight candidates, the outlet writes. The termination of the contract is expected to be finalized on Monday.

With 22 wins and 60 losses, the Rockets shared the worst record in the Western Conference together with the San Antonio Spurs and will hold the Top-3 odds of landing the number one overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
