Hackett believes Virtus have done enough to prove its worth to the competition.

"The club has done an excellent job," Hackett told Corriere dello Sport. "The players have been put in a position to give their best and our basketball appealing. It allowed to bring a lot of people to the arena."

"I believe we deserve a wild card. The team has fought hard and done well, and while I won't talk about the politics, I don't see why our journey shouldn't continue," Hackett added.

Meanwhile, Virtus CEO Luca Baraldi also admitted that obtaining the EuroLeague's license is one of the club's priorities.

"Obtaining it is one of our objectives, but we also know it does not depend only on us," Baraldi told Il Carlino. "We are doing everything in our power, and in the coming weeks, we will try to resume the dialogue we had in recent months."

We are also moving forward with the new arena, which is an important variable in this situation. I hope to have positive news soon," Baraldi said.

Currently, Virtus have a 13-16 record and remain in contention for a spot in this season's EuroLeague playoffs.
