U-BT Cluj-Napoca's guard Karel Guzman was ejected during Romanian Basketball League's game against CSM CSU Oradea on Saturday. Later on, the Cuban player committed a felony.

With 7 minutes and 45 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Oradea's Nikola Markovic seems to have slightly shoved Guzman while players from the two teams were walking towards the benches after a timeout was called.

Guzman started to forcefully approach Markovic after getting up from the ground and had to be held back by numerous teammates and staff members.

In the end, Markovic was given an unsportsmanlike foul while Guzman was ejected with a disqualifying foul.

When leaving the court, the Cuban guard grabbed a basketball from behind the basket and kicked it into the stands. Cluj-Napoca ended up losing the game 74-82.

However, the issues were not over. At around 20:53 local time, the player exited the Oradea Arena. Moments later, he returned with an apparent metal rod and tried to re-enter the venue again.

Karel Guzman's ejection:

After walking past the security guard, Guzman entered the building. He was first stopped by his teammate Andrija Stipanovic. Even though the player tried to go past his teammate, he was eventually stopped. When the authorities came, Guzman was later stripped of the weapon.

"He left the multi-purpose hall, walked to the nearby construction site, and picked up a corrugated iron rod to re-enter the gym, at which point he was stopped by a teammate and a security guard stripped him of the blunt object," local police spokesperson Alina Stefan communicated to Romanian outlet Bihoreanul.

The Romanian Basketball Federation has launched an investigation into the matter.

"The case has been forwarded to the Sports Discipline and Ethics Commission," the organization's spokesperson Tiberiu Rist told.

Cluj-Napoca's club has since released a statement, condemning its player's actions.

"During the match, Karel Guzman displayed aggressive behavior that is not promoted and accepted within the U-BT club, regardless of the possible circumstances caused by the opponent," the statement reads.

"To our knowledge, the player Karel Guzman has no previous history of violence and has always expressed a responsible and respectful attitude within our team," the statement continues. "Club U-Banca Transilvania hereby affirms its clear position of firm condemnation of any acts of violence in sports and always supports the competitive spirit based on fair play. A disciplinary investigation will be opened within the club as a result of this incident."

Guzman later released an apology on his Instagram account.
