The Mavericks superstar appeared to be rearing back for a dunk before being met in the air by Pelicans big man Jonas Valanciunas and forward Brandon Ingram.
The collision sent Doncic to the floor on his back, with his right foot briefly skidding on the hardwood in the fall.
The injury cut short another sterling performance by Doncic, who exited with 31 points, eight rebounds, and four assists in just 23 minutes of action.
"We'll see how he feels tomorrow and have a better update to give you," Kidd said after the game.
The Mavs, who open a five-game road trip Saturday night against the Golden State Warriors, are 0-6 in games missed by Doncic this season.
Doncic averages 33.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game over 46 contests.
