After an unsuccessful EuroBasket 2022 where Slovenia sensationally lost to Poland, the country's national team bounced back during the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers window last week, qualifying for the World Cup next year.

Slovenia overcame Germany last Monday to capture the final spot in the grand tournament from Group J in the Second Round. After missing out in 2019, this will be the fourth Slovenia's appearance in the World Cup.

Luka Doncic is the biggest star of the team, and he won't miss the chance to play in the World Cup for the first time in his international career.

"Luka confirmed his participation a minute after the match with Germany when it was certain that we would go to the championship," Slovenian Basketball Federation's president Matej Erjavec told MMC. "To be very honest, we were actually 99% sure already after the game against Israel and even then it was a great joy and a reassurance at the same time. If Luka is healthy, there is no fear at all."

Doncic averaged 26 points, 7.7 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 2 steals per game in EuroBasket 2022.
