Vasilije Micic will not play in the upcoming game against Turkey, as Ergin Ataman changed his decision and did not allow the Serbian star to join his national team.
Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Serbian national team star Vasilije Micic will not play in the 2023 FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers game against Turkey, Nikola Stojkovic from Mozzart Sport reports.
According to the report, Anadolu Efes and Turkey national team head coach Ergin Ataman allowed Micic to join the Serbian national team camp initially, but before the upcoming game changed his decision.
Serbia (4-3) and Turkey (3-4) are direct rivals in Group I, as both teams are battling for a spot in the main tournament.
As Latvia (6-1) already punched a ticket to the next year's World Cup, only two more spots remain available. Currently, Serbia stands in second place, Greece (4-3) is in third, and Turkey remains fourth.
Mozzart Sport also reports that Vladimir Lucic and Marko Guduric have already arrived in Belgrade, and both of them will be ready for Monday’s game.
Serbia will face Turkey on Monday at 8 pm CET.
