With the Greek Basketball League starting only on Saturday, Greek basketball legend Vassilis Spanoulis had to make his official coaching debut in the Basketball Champions League.

Spanoulis-coached Peristeri bwin (1-0) got off to an easy start on the international stage with a comfortable win against Bnei Ofek Dist Herzliya (0-1) 86-70 (26-18, 25-18, 22-18, 13-16).

After leading by 8 after the first quarter (26-18), Peristeri started the first five minutes of the second quarter with a 15-5 run to gain a 14-point lead (41-27). The lead reached 22 points at the beginning of the first half (60-38) and the home team never looked back.

Miro Bilan led Peristeri with 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals in his account. Sylvain Francisco added 13 points and 5 assists. On the other side of the court, Maurice Kemp was the lone warrior with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Peristeri will debut in the Greek Basketball League on Saturday against PAOK. The start time of the match is currently to be announced.
