Aito Garcia Reneses will become the oldest coach in the history of the Spanish ACB this Wednesday when he will coach Girona Basket against Real Madrid.

On the match day, Reneses will be 75 years, 9 months, and 8 days. The coach already holds the record for the most matches in the history of the competition. 1,077 games in total. Wednesday he will add a new record to his extraordinary career.

The only coach who had coached a team in an ACB match after the age of 70 was Svetislav Pesic, who did so with FC Barcelona.

Reneses will start his twenty-ninth season in the ACB this Wednesday. In those 27 years, he has coached 7 teams: Circol Cotonifici Badalona, Joventut Badalona in two different stages, Barcelona in another two, Unicaja Malaga, Real Betis Seville, Herbalife Gran Canaria, and now Girona.
