Anadolu Efes defeated Maccabi to claim third place in the Pavlos Giannakopoulos tournament in Athens.

On the second day of the Pavlos Giannakopoulos tournament, Anadolu Efes Istanbul defeated Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv with a final score of 87-81 (20-21, 38-15, 14-27, 15-18) to claim third place.

Anadolu Efes made a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to gain a 15-point advantage (81-66) and secure the victory.

Anadolu Efes put up a scoring clinic in the second quarter and outscored their opponents 38-15 to take a 22-point lead (58-36) before the second half.

Maccabi reacted to the situation at the start of the third quarter and went on a 5-16 run within the first 5 minutes of the quarter to reduce the deficit to 11 points (63-52).

Vasilije Micic was the key player that allowed the Turkish team to build such a lead in the first half. The Serbian guard had 15 points at the half.

Anadolu Efes played in this friendly game without Shane Larkin, Elijah Bryant, and Bryant Dunston.

Anadolu Efes was led by Vasilije Micic who finished with 18 points (4/8 2PTS, 2/5 3PTS, 4/4 FT), 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 6 turnovers in 29 minutes.

Meanwhile, Wade Baldwin led the charge for Maccabi with 20 points (6/9 2PTS, 1/4 3PTS, 5/6 FT), 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 6 turnovers in 28 minutes.

In the final of the tournament in memory of Pavlos Giannakopoulos, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens will face EA7 Emporio Armani Milan on September 24 at 20:00 CEST
