Victor Wembanyama started the season strong but Metropolitans 92 fell short in the season opener.

Gravelines-Dunkerque defeated Victor Wembanyama-led Metropolitans 92 Paris at home with a final score of 85-73.

In his first French league game with the new club, 18-year-old Wembanyama ended up with 23 points (10/17 2PT, 1/6 3PT), and 10 rebounds double-double, in addition, the French talent also had 3 blocks in 30 minutes of play.

For Vincent Collet's coached Metropolitans 92 Hugo Besson and DeVante Jones added 11 points each.

Gravelines-Dunkerque were led to a victory by Justin Robinson, who finished the game with 18 points.

Wembanyama, who is projected to go number one in the next year's NBA draft, last season played for the LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne but decided to leave the EuroLeague club to develop with Metropolitans 92.
