Panathinaikos advanced to the final of a friendly preseason tournament in memory of Pavlos Giannakopoulos by defeating EuroLeague champions Anadolu Efes.

In the second semifinal of a friendly preseason tournament in memory of Pavlos Giannakopoulos, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens defeated Anadolu Efes Istanbul with a final score of 86-71 (27-16, 24-18, 16-25, 19-12).

Panathinaikos gained an 11-point advantage (73-62) with 2 minutes to go in the game after a crucial 6-0 run.

The friendly game did not go without worrisome sights for the Anadolu Efes team and its fans. Vasilije Micic left the court with roughly 90 secs remaining in the fourth quarter due to a twisted ankle.

Panathinaikos had a balanced offense as 6 players ended up with double figures in scoring.

Nate Wolters led the well-balanced Panathinaikos to a victory with 14 points (4/5 2PT, 2/2 3PT), 5 assists, and 2 rebounds in 23 minutes.

The EuroLeague champions Anadolu Efes were led by Ante Zizic, who ended up with 18 points (8/11 2PT, 2/2 FT) 6 rebounds, and 1 assist in 20 minutes.

In the final of the tournament in memory of Pavlos Giannakopoulos, Panathinaikos will face EA7 Emporio Armani Milan on September 24 at 20:00 CEST, who defeated Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv in the other semifinal.

The losers of the semifinals, Anadolu Efes and Maccabi, will face off on September 24 at 17:00 CEST.
