Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka is facing a significant suspension and disciplinary action from the team, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Meanwhile, Shams Charania from The Athletic is reporting that Udoka had an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff. It's been deemed a violation of the Celtics' code of conduct.

According to ESPN's report, the 45-year-old violated organizational guidelines. The length of Udoka's suspension should be decided by Thursday. Wojnarowski also reports that internal discussions have included scenarios that would keep Udoka out for the entirety of the 2022-23 season.

However, he also adds that Udoka's job isn't considered to be in jeopardy.

Joe Mazzulla is expected to take an interim role as a head coach.

Udoka replaced Brad Stevens as a coach. Stevens moved upstairs to be Boston's president of basketball operations after his predecessor in that job, Danny Ainge, who joined the Utah Jazz.

Udoka is the fifth coach in the past 25 years to reach the NBA Finals in his first season as a head coach and the first since Nick Nurse in 2019.
