Scariolo captured his fourth European championship gold.
After the final, the Spanish Basketball Federation president, Jorge Garbajosa, admitted he sees Sergio Scariolo as the best NT coach in the world at this moment.
"Sergio is the best national team coach in the world. He is the father of these kids.
He was coaching Pau Gasol, Juan Carlos Navarro, Felipe Reyes. Some people say it's easy to coach them but now he got a young team with a lot of injuries and problems, and he showed everybody that I am right," said Garbajosa.
The former player also responded to a question about Scariolo's contract extension with the Spanish national team. Garbajosa stated with a smile on his face: "I'm terrible in negotiating".
