Clarkson, a former NBA Sixth Man of the Year, registered 23 points on 14 shot attempts to go along with five rebounds, six assists and four turnovers. Philippines improved to 3-3 bouncing back from a loss to Lebanon, while Saudi Arabia fell to 1-5 in Group E.

Young big man Kai Sotto had his biggest game of the Asian Qualifiers so far with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks. The win by the Philippines also clinched FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 qualification for New Zealand, who had previously beaten Jordan, to become the first team from the Asian Qualifiers to do so.

Clarkson scored 27 points while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out six assists in an 85-81 loss to Lebanon. Clarkson’s grandma was born in Bacolor Pampanga, Philippines, and he qualifies as the team's naturalized player.

The 30-year-old combo guard averaged 16.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists with the Utah Jazz last season. He holds career averages of 15.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists over 600 NBA games.

Clarkson has also confirmed that he will play for the Gilas Pilipinas at the FIBA World Cup 2023, as reported by GMA News.

More importantly, he donated 50 pairs of shoes and held a basketball camp at the Tenement court in Taguig. This comes to no surprise as Clarkson has never been shy in regard to charity work in Salt Lake City.
