Dorsey also talked about returning to the NBA and the upcoming challenges in EuroBasket 2022 with the Greek national team in an interview with Sport24.gr

Dorsey has made it clear that his goal since coming to Europe has been to return to the NBA at some point. His wish finally came true as his performances with Olympiacos earned him a two-way contract with the Mavericks.

"For me, it was a relatively easy decision because I waited 3-4 years for the opportunity to return to the NBA, even if it would be with a two-way contract," said Dorsey at the beginning of the interview.

"I wanted to open that door again and I have a great opportunity with a great organization, a team that is excited for me and I for them," Dorsey added.

"I'm excited to play alongside Luka [Doncic] and I can't wait to meet the other guys. I hope to face Slovenia and Doncic in the EuroBasket, which of course we both need to go far in the tournament," said the Greek national team guard.

"I want to meet him already, because I haven't had the chance yet," Dorsey added.

Dorsey revealed he was heavily considering between staying with Olympiacos and joining Fenerbahce.

"I spoke with Fenerbahce and I was between Olympiacos and them. I hadn't made a decision, I was between the two," said the new Mavericks addition.

"Even now, in a hypothetical scenario, I don't know what I would decide. Luckily the Mavericks showed up," continued the guard.

"I'm glad Dallas came up and I didn't have to decide because my goal was always the NBA," Dorsey added.

As for the Greek national team, Dorsey was happy with the mix the Greek national team has.

"I think we have a great team, a great roster with a lot of talent," said the guard.

"I think the timing is also important because we have a mix of players who are in their prime but also experienced players, so we just have to put it all in line, to build chemistry and learn how to play well together," said the 1.93-meters tall player.

Tyler Dorsey pointed out that the important factor will be figuring out how to play around the Greek NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

"Obviously, we also have to see how we play around Giannis [Antetokounmpo] so that we can all help him and make the game easier for him on offense," said Dorsey.

"It's a huge opportunity for me, but also for my teammates. I'm excited to play with him [Antetokounmpo]," added Dorsey.

While Dorsey did not say what was the exact goal of the national team in the upcoming EuroBasket, he thinks it's perfect timing for the team to achieve something good.

"It's perfect timing for us as a team," said Dorsey. "We have the opportunity and the honor to put on the shirt and represent the country. Everyone loves basketball in Greece and I know we will have the support of the fans," he added.

At the end of the interview, the Mavericks guard talked about the upcoming challenges in the World Cup qualifiers.

"I think it will be a good opportunity for us. It will be strong tests, where we will see where we are and what we can do to improve before EuroBasket," said the point guard.

"Especially the match against Serbia will be good for us because we will play away from home against a strong team," Dorsey concluded the interview.
