Following a successful stint with the national team, the Hungarian Basketball Federation has decided to trust its head coach for a longer period of time.

The governing body has announced that head coach Stojan Ivkovic will work with the team for three more years. The Montenegrin specialist's contract was extended until the year 2025.

"His mentality, attitude, and results show that Hungarian basketball is in good hands. I ask everyone to come to Cologne if you can, let's support this team together because they deserve it," the president of the federation, Ferenc Szalay, told in a press conference.

Ivkovic has been coaching the national team since 2013 and has been the architect of the most successful period of Hungarian basketball.

"It will be an interesting and exciting summer, the team has ten years of work behind it, and we are enjoying the time spent together," coach Ivkovic said. "There will be more NBA players at the EuroBasket than ever before, it will be a great experience to play in this field."

Earlier today, Hungary edged out a win over Georgia in the first friendly match while in preparation for the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers and EuroBasket 2022 matches.
