A month ago it was reported that Kevin Durant requested to be traded from the Brooklyn Nets. The two-time NBA champion had the interest of multiple teams but the Nets did not manage to get the value they want for Durant and there seems to be no trade in the near future.

Durant's teammate, Kyrie Irving already changed his mind this summer and decided to stay with the Nets for the next season.

In order to give someone of Durant's caliber, the Nets can ask for a massive package, which includes star players and first-round picks.

According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, it is a complicated case and an extremely difficult trade to make happen, therefore this is why the Nets are now hoping that Durant will decide to stay with the franchise.

"Even before the Minnesota Timberwolves warped the trade market by flipping five draft assets for Rudy Gobert, several smart people around the league termed the very act of trading Durant 'impossible' in conversations with ESPN," wrote Lowe.

"There was no way to approximate fair value. A player of Durant's caliber with so many years locked in had never before become available," added Lowe.

The Nets might be waiting for Durant's camp to realize that so Durant decides to change his mind and take back the trade request. The Nets have not given up on such a scenario, according to Lowe.

The 33-year-old Durant still has a 4-year $192.4 million contract, which runs after the 2025-26 season.

Last season, the Nets superstar averaged 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists in 55 regular-season games.
