Panathinaikos OPAP Athens officially announced that the club is organizing the 4th edition of the Pavlos Giannakopoulos pre-season tournament this Autumn.

The competition will be held in Athens in the iconic OAKA Arena on September 23rd and 24th.

Four teams will take part in the pre-season games: Panathinaikos, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, and the back-to-back EuroLeague champions Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

The Pavlos Giannakopoulos tournament took place three times before: in 2018, 2019, and 2021. It was skipped two years ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year and in 2018, the hosts PAO won the tournament beating Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce in the final game. Milan captured first place in 2019 by overcoming Maccabi.

Pavlos Giannakopoulos was a legendary owner and president of Panathinaikos Athens, who led the Greek powerhouse to 6 EuroLeague titles, 13 Greek Championships, and 9 Greek Cups.
