Overtime Elite (OTE) is a newly introduced league in the United States for young players that will present an alternative way of path to the NBA. At the moment it is a three-team league featuring some of the United States top players from ages 16 to 18.

OTE last week announced that 2x NBA Champion and 6x All-Star Spanish basketball legend Pau Gasol has joined the board of directors. Gasol's appointment is effective immediately as he participated in his first board meeting last week.

Gasol joins Overtime CEO and Co-Founder Dan Porter, Overtime President and Co-Founder Zack Weiner, Overtime CFO Farzeen Ghorashy, Carmelo Anthony and Jay Williams on the OTE Board.

"We could not be more fortunate to have Pau join the OTE Board of Directors," said Overtime CEO and Co-Founder Dan Porter.

"Pau’s resume on and off the court speaks for itself, but his insight and hands-on approach will be fundamental to the league’s growth and long-term success," Porter continued.

"We saw this firsthand when Pau visited with our players and staff this last Spring in Atlanta," Porter added.

Gasol after joining the OTE talked about the league's vision.

"When I walked through OTE Arena in April and met with the players, I saw up close the life-changing experiences that Overtime Elite is providing them," said Gasol.

"I am honored that Dan and Zack have asked me to join the board and I look forward to working with my fellow board members and OTE staff to build," said the Spanish legend.

"Not only a world-class developmental league but a basketball league that captures the imagination of basketball fans all over the world," added Gasol.

OTE also announced that every player in their league is offered a six-figure salary, with a guaranteed minimum salary of at least $100,000 per year, plus bonuses.

Starting this season, players have the option to choose a scholarship or salary option.
