NBA champion and 4-time All-Star Rasheed Wallace was named an assistant coach on Darvin Ham's Los Angeles Lakers staff this June, but according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Wallace is no longer planning to join the Lakers coaching staff.

Wallace has spent two seasons together as players on the Detroit Pistons with Lakers head coach Ham, including the 2004 season when they won the NBA championship.

This past season Wallace worked at the University of Memphis as an assistant coach to Penny Hardaway. Wallace already worked as an assistant in the league in the 2013-14 season for the Pistons.

In his 16-year NBA career, Wallace played for 6 different teams, but most of his years were with the Portland Trail Blazers (1996-2004) and the Pistons (2004-2009).

In his NBA career, power forward Wallace averaged 14.4 points and 6.7 rebounds in 1,109 games (956 starts).
