After a disappointing end of the season, FC Barcelona decided to make some changes in the coaching staff.
According to 15min.lt journalist Rokas Pakenas, the Catalan team is parting ways with Sarunas Jasikevicius' assistant coach Darius Maskoliunas. The cause of the dismissal is currently unknown.
Barca won only one trophy this year - the Copa del Rey. Both the Spanish Supercopa and Liga Endesa titles went to Real Madrid. Barcelona lost to their eternal rivals in the EuroLeague semifinal as well.
Maskoliunas was Saras' assistant ever since the Lithuanian specialist got appointed as the head coach of the team. He previously worked with Jasikevicius in Zalgiris Kaunas in the years 2015-2020.
Maskoliunas was the head coach of the Lithuanian national team from 2019 until 2021. He was dismissed after the team failed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.
