The commitment will take Williamson's new deal through the 2027-28 season, via the report.

Moreover, the contract is expected to include protections both sides were sorting through overnight.

The 21-year-old Williamson said after the last season ended, "I couldn't sign it fast enough."

He did not play a single game this past campaign due to a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot. Williamson also missed the first three months of the 2019-20 season, as he suffered from a knee injury.

The No. 1 pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, Williamson has played just 85 games for the Pelicans.

For his career, he has averages of 25.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over 31.7 minutes per match.
