The EuroCup newcomers Paris Basketball have ambitious plans not only on the European stage but in the French Basketball League (LNB) as well.

The club recently announced its plans to host the Round 5 match of the French league in the legendary center court of the tennis Grand Slam tournament Roland Garros - Court Philippe-Chatrier.

More than 10,000 people will be able to attend the match in the stadium which will be specially prepared to host a basketball match.

"We have achieved many firsts in our young history but the opportunity to play a match under the roof of Philippe-Chatrier next season will perhaps be our greatest pride," David Kahn, the president and co-founder of the club, said following the announcement.

"The Roland Garros Stadium is a standard-bearer for Parisian, French, and international sport. We will work tirelessly to organize a match and a show that lives up to its reputation," Kahn told.

It will not be the first time a basketball match will be hosted on the legendary clay court. During the early decades of the stadium, many games were played on Court Philippe-Chatrier, most notably the final of the 1947 French Basketball Championship.

Nearly 80 years later, basketball will once again return to the iconic stadium to mark a new beginning in Paris basketball.
