According to BIG information, German basketball legend Ademola Okulaja died at the age of 46. The cause of death is not known but Okulaja was fighting cancer for many years.

Okulaja played a total of 172 international matches for Germany between 1995 and 2007 and was captain for many years.

He was also one of the key figures of the team, alongside Dirk Nowitzki and Patrick Femerling.

Okulaja participated in multiple EuroBaskets in 1995, 1997, 1999, and 2001. He competed in the 2002 FIBA World Basketball Championship and won the bronze medal.

In club basketball, he represented such European powerhouses as ALBA Berlin, FC Barcelona, Unicaja Malaga, Benetton Treviso, Pamesa Valencia, Khimki Moscow, and Brose Baskets.

He lifted Korac Cup back in 1994-95, when being a part of ALBA.

Okulaja had three different attempts to join the NBA but was unable to make the final cut. He possessed training camp experience with the Philadelphia 76ers, San Antonio Spurs, and Utah Jazz.

In 2010, Okulaja announced his retirement from professional basketball.

Prior to that, in 2008, he was diagnosed with a spinal tumor and had to go into a one-year-long therapy. Okulaja played one more season for Brose and then hung up his shoes.

After his playing career, he became an agent for German basketball stars Dennis Schroder and Daniel Theis.
