A formal announcement is expected this week, per the report.

Jokic led the NBA with 19 triple-doubles and averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists in 74 regular-season games this campaign.

The 27-year-old Serbian became the first player in NBA history with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 500 assists in one season.

The Denver center's performance is even more noteworthy when considering star guard Jamal Murray (ACL) missed the entire season and forward Michael Porter Jr. (back) sat out the final five months.

Jokic received the MVP accolade last year as well. Last season, his stat lines marked 26.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 7.9 assists.

With the Nuggets, the dominant big man won 48 and lost 34 regular-season games this year. Denver finished sixth in the Western Conference. In the first playoffs round, the Nuggets were eliminated by the Golden State Warriors, losing a series 1-4.

Jokic overtook the other two finalists in the 2021-22 MVP race: Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Prior to Jokic's domination, Giannis Antetokounmpo snatched two MVP trophies in 2019 and 2020.

This is the fourth consecutive season an international player has won the award.
