Playoff-bound FC Bayern Munich (13-13) started the almost unprecedented EuroLeague run of three games in five nights by visiting already-eliminated Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul (10-16) in hopes of inching up the standings before the end of the week.

However, Bavarians' hopes will have to wait, as Andrea Trinchieri's men lost a game against Fener 76-81 (16-27, 15-18, 31-9, 14-27). Turks skidded their six-game losing streak in the EuroLeague.

Despite losing the third quarter heavily, Jan Vesely, Pierria Henry, and Achille Polonara arranged a 10-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter, and Fenerbahce were in front by 2 (64-62).

Both squads were trading baskets, while Markel Starks sank a triple to put his team ahead of 4 points (73-69) with 2:30 to play. Augustine Rubit cut Bayern's deficit to minimal (72-73) on the other end.

Jan Vesely poured in two shots from the line (75-72). Othello Hunter answered him with a free throw on his own but Pierria Henry nailed a dagger from deep (78-73) with 58 seconds to go. That was the end, as Vladimir Lucic was fouled while shooting from beyond the arc. The Serbian forward converted 3 free throws in as many tries (76-78).

Nevertheless, Jan Vesely made a two-point bucket, Fenerbahce got a crucial stop, Achille Polonara sank one shot from the charity stripe and the Turkish squad consolidated the W (81-76) with 13 seconds left on the clock.

Pierria Henry and Jan Vesely were outstanding for the winners. Henry finished the game with 22 points (5/9 2PT, 2/5 3PT, 6/6 FT), 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal, 5 turnovers, and a game-high 31 PIR.

The Czech big man aided him with a double-double, posting 21 points (9/11 2PT, 3/4 FT), 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 4 turnovers, and 30 PIR.

"The first two quarters were played in a really good way. We were pushing the ball, playing good defense, and taking advantage of some of their mistakes offensively. In the third quarter, we really didn't start well. We didn't have a rhythm.

They had a 9-0 run and I had to call a timeout. That's not something we should have allowed. But we got back into it and in the end, showed character. We got a lot from the guys on the bench – support and energy," spoke Sasa Djordjevic post-game.

Augustine Rubit was the most efficient player for the losing side, accumulating 17 points (5/8 2PT, 7/7 FT), 5 rebounds, and 22 PIR.

"Congratulations to Fenerbahce for a great game and a good win. We had a very bad first 20 minutes and we played great for 15 minutes in the second half. And then we came up short a couple of plays. Maybe they had more energy. But overall, we played a solid game, especially the second half," commented Andrea Trinchieri.

Pierria Henry scored 9 points in a row, Fenerbahce spurted 9-0, and the Turkish powerhouse was up by 12 in the mid-first quarter (16-4).

The hosts' lead marked the apex of 15 points (31-16) at the start of the second period. They maintained their solid double-digit advantage until the first half ended, while Jan Vesely was dominating under the baskets (45-31).

Despite comfortably holding the game reins in their hands, Fenerbahce took a blow with 1:34 to go in the second quarter. Marko Guduric suffered an ankle injury without any contact and was forced to leave the court scoreless. He went straight into the locker room.

Though, everything changed dramatically in the third quarter. Augustine Rubit, Nihad Dedovic, and Zan Mark Sisko were draining one shot after another, while Bayern went on a massive 21-2 run to retake the game control in their hands (52-47).

Fener tied the game at 52 but Darrun Hilliard and Deshaun Thomas-led Bayern spurted once more, this time 10-0, and they were up by 10 (62-52). Both clubs were divided by 8 (62-54) before the last period.

Fenerbahce: Pierria Henry 22 (8 AST), Jan Vesely 21 (10 REB), Dyshawn Pierre 10 (5 REB).

Bayern: Augustine Rubit 17 (5 REB), Darrun Hilliard 13, Zan Mark Sisko 8 (8 AST).
