Dinos Mitoglou has tested positive in the anti-doping control performed after the AX Armani Milan game against Panathinaikos OPAP Athens, the Italian team announced.
According to the club's release, the Greek international is temporarily off the squad while the club is investigating his case.
Per the official announcement:
"Having learned that the athlete Dinos Mitoglou was found positive during an anti-doping control administered last March 4 after the EuroLeague game against Panathinaikos Athens, Olimpia Milano has taken note of the precautionary suspension of the player and will hold any other evaluation as soon as it will have all the elements, necessary to clarify the episode, available."
Last week, Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Dinos Mitoglou had not played EuroLeague double-week games against Maccabi Tel Aviv and Anadolu Efes Istanbul because of "stomach issues".
However, the Greek forward had played in the last game of the Italian league against Varese.
That's the second doping case among Armani Milan's players after Riccardo Moraschini had tested positive in an anti-doping control after a training session at the Assago Forum in October 2021.
Further analysis that month found traces of clostebol, an anabolic steroid also used to promote wound healing. Moraschini was consequently suspended and subsequently reported a case of indirect contamination, having been assiduously in contact with a person who used a healing spray containing the prohibited substance.
He parted ways with Armani Milan on Monday.
