Melih Mahmutoglu made some statements on refereeing after heart-breaking Turkey's loss against Greece.

The game outcome was decided by Kostas Papanikolaou's free throws. The latter was fouled and sank two shots from the line with 3 seconds left on the clock, giving his squad a minimal lead (72-71).

According to Mahmutoglu, the referees' call was incorrect.

"We played and fought well. But I don't know what FIBA is thinking. I am talking about the last foul. I have never seen such a foul called with 3 seconds remaining. We are sad that we got here, though, the foul judged the result," spoke the 31-year-old.

"The damage is huge. After the match, I went to the referee and told him that this is a shame," he added.

Mahmutoglu was the top scorer for Turkey, registering 21 points (3/3 2PT, 4/10 3PT, 3/3 FT), 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 turnovers, and 17 PIR.
