New Orleans Pelicans center retrieved such title after a four-year break. The last time Valanciunas won this award was in 2017. It was the fifth time Valanciunas was announced as the best Lithuanian basketball player of the year.
"It's a big honor, Valanciunas said in the press release. "It's my fifth award, thanks for voting and believing in me. I'll see you on the court."
Valanciunas received 3842 votes. Domantas Sabonis came in second with 3436 votes, while Rokas Jokubaitis finished third (1424 votes).
Valanciunas was the main Lithuanian national team force in the Olympics Qualifying tournament in Kaunas, where he averaged 16.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 23.0 EFF.
This season, JV averages 18.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists for the Pelicans.
