Before matching up against the Brooklyn Nets last night, Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups offered a perspective on the opponents and their main point guard Kyrie Irving.
Billups was short and precise with his evaluation of Irving and his game. "Kyrie is just, he's a wizard, man," the coach said before the game. "
"He's must-see TV," Billups continued. "I personally think, as somebody that played the position, I think Kyrie's the most skilled player that's ever played that position."
Asked why he considers Kyrie to be the best to ever play the position, Billups was once against concise: "Just straight skill. Nothing else. Just straight skill. I think he's the best that I've ever seen at the position, skill-wise."
Trail Blazers head coach seemed to be in awe with his opponent's play. "His shot-making is incredible," Billups told the reporters. "He's a better passer than people give him credit for. He's obviously a willing teammate. He's not just all about Kyrie. He passes the ball. He's a champion."
Last night was only the second match Kyrie Irving has played for the club this year. Due to being unvaccinated, the point guard was not with the team to start the season following the New York City's vaccination mandate.
Irving himself was happy to receive such praise from the player he grew up watching. "I definitely appreciate the praise and I definitely agree that my skill level at this point in my career deserves that recognition," Kyrie noted tonight.
Brooklyn Nets currently sit 2nd in the Eastern Conference with 25 wins and 14 losses, while Portland Trail Blazers experience a down year so far with 16 wins and 24 losses.
