Olmos agreed to a deal that will keep him in Burgos for two more campaigns, until 2024.

Earlier in the day, the back-to-back Basketball Champions League champs (2020,2021) announced the termination of their second coach this season, Salva Maldonado, in a decision that provoked a strong reaction from BAXI Manresa's head coach Pedro Martinez.

"He is my friend, but what a lack of respect (34 days...)", Martinez commented on Twitter after learning about the news.

Burgos are not in the best situation tournament-wise in Spain. The club now sits 17th, second-to-last, in the Spanish ACB league with 4 wins and 11 losses.

In the Basketball Champions League, Burgos now play in the play-in mini-tournament against Darussafaka Istanbul. After winning the first match, the club will travel to Turkey for the second leg on Wednesday.

After several years coaching clubs of different national categories, Olmos took over Pamesa Valencia in the 2002-03 season, where he remained for two campaigns before leading two LEB teams: CB Calpe and Club Melilla Baloncesto.

After directing Menorca Basket, the Spanish tactician was again in charge of Valencia in the 2011-12 season.

The next stage of his career took him to the American continent, where he led Puerto Rican and Mexican teams, in addition to assuming the position of coach with the national teams of both countries at different times. As Puerto Rico coach, Olmos participated in the Basketball World Cup held in Spain in 2014.

He then joined CB Breogan in the summer of 2021, coaching the team in the ACB League.
