Multiple ALBA Berlin members have received news that their Covid tests returned positive, the club announced today.
The team is set to initiate additional testing to determine the extent of the Covid outbreak within the team.
ALBA were scheduled to take on Panathinaikos OPAP Athens in Round 19 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague on Thursday. However, the match has been suspended by Panathinaikos' request, who have also been dealing with the Covid outbreak.
The German squad also did not compete in the EuroLeague last week, after their game against AX Armani Exchange Milan was suspended due to Covid. The match is now scheduled to take place on January 18.
With 6 victories and 11 losses, ALBA are in the 16th spot of the EuroLeague standings. They have won 10 games and suffered 4 losses in the German Basketball Bundesliga, landing in the third spot of the standings.
