The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 19 game CSKA Moscow vs. FC Barcelona, originally scheduled to be played on Friday, January 7, has been suspended, per the league's official announcement.
CSKA Moscow / Schedule
FC Barcelona requested the suspension after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves the team without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.
The club reports that a whopping number of 18 people have currently tested positive for COVID-19 - 9 players and 9 staff members.
Following the Special Regulations due to COVID-19, approved by the ECA Shareholders Executive Board, each game can be rescheduled up to three times, if there are available dates.
Euroleague Basketball will coordinate with the affected teams the best options to reschedule the games. Alternative dates will be announced on official Euroleague Basketball platforms.
This game is the eighth suspended duel this week. Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv vs. Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne vs. AS Monaco, Real Madrid vs. UNICS Kazan, ALBA Berlin vs. Panathinaikos OPAP Athens, Anadolu Efes Istanbul vs. FC Bayern Munich, Zalgiris Kaunas vs. Olympiacos Piraeus, and Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade vs. Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul were postponed as well.
This now leaves Euroleague with only one match planned for Round 19 - Zenit St Petersburg against AX Armani Exchange Milan on Friday.
