FC Barcelona officially reported that Sergi Martinez and three technical staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 this Sunday, January 2, after PCR tests were carried out on the entire squad.
The 22-year-old Spaniard is in good health and isolated at home, via the announcement.
Martinez is averaging 2.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.1 PIR over 15 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games this season.
On Monday afternoon, the Catalan side informed that Gael Bonilla, a Barca B who had also been registered to this season's EuroLeague roster, has also tested positive and will be quarantined for the rest of the week.
Martinez and Bonilla joined head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius, Brandon Davies, Nicolas Laprovittola, and three other staff members, who tested positive on New Year's eve.
Prior to that, on December 28, Barca announced that Nick Calathes and Kyle Kuric also received positive test results. A few days earlier, Pierre Oriola was diagnosed with coronavirus as well.
Barcelona has a scheduled EuroLeague away game on Friday against CSKA Moscow.
