Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz announced the first coronavirus case in the team. It turned out later to be Baskonia's head coach Neven Spahija, who has tested positive for COVID-19 in an antigen test, carried out earlier this afternoon.
Once the case was known, the entire staff was first subjected to an antigen test and then to a back-up PCR test in which all members, including the bench boss, were negative, according to the official report.
Spahija will not lead the team in tonight's match (22:00 CET) against Casademont Zaragoza as a precaution, pending new medical tests and continuing permanent contact and supervision of the Baskonia medical services.
The Basques will play the next Turkish Airlines EuroLeague contest on Thursday against FC Barcelona.
