Going into the LNB contest against hosts Limoges, the task of French champs ASVEL was going to be complicated. Decimated by Covid and injuries, the visitors could only field nine players on Monday evening.

The squad was coached by Fred Fauthoux who stood in for TJ Parker (tested positive). Limoges scored 16 of their first 27 points in the paint to dominate the start of the match.

Villeurbanne went into "warrior" mode to reverse the course of the game.

Playing with more aggression on both sides of the court and going on an 11-0 run allowed them to take the lead for the first time (44-43).

Carried by a packed Astroballe (5,560 spectators) and Dylan Osetkowski, the only big man still available for ASVEL who delivered a sensational show with 26 points, ASVEL came really close to stealing the game, but Elie Okobo's last possession missed the target.

Hugo Invernizzi was the man who essentially handed Limoges the win with a three-point dagger.

ASVEL Villeurbanne: Dylan Osetkowski 26 (8/14 FG, 9/9 FT, 5 REB), Antoine Diot 18 (6/11 FG), Marcos Knight 12 (5/7 FG, 1/2 FT), Elie Okobo 11 (3/12 FG, 4/4 FT, 4 REB).

Limoges: Demonte Harper 25 (10/17 FG, 1/2 FT, 7 REB), CJ Massinburg 20 (8/12 FG, 2/2 FT, 5 REB), Hugo Invernizi 14 (4/6 FG, 3/3 FT, 9 REB).
