Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan entered the NBA's health and safety protocols on Friday.

Assistant Chris Fleming will serve as the acting head coach in his absence.

The Bulls' next scheduled game is Sunday against the visiting Indiana Pacers.

Donovan, 56, is at least the fourth NBA head coach to enter the COVID-19 protocols, including Frank Vogel of the Los Angeles Lakers, Alvin Gentry of the Sacramento Kings and Rick Carlisle of the Pacers.

Until now, Donovan had managed to avoid an outbreak that saw as many as 10 Chicago players land on the COVID list this month, forcing multiple postponements.

Donovan announced Thursday that all Bulls players had cleared the protocols, including star guard Zach LaVine.

Donovan is in his second season with Chicago following five seasons as head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder (2015-20). He previously coached in the college ranks at Florida (1996-2015) and Marshall (1994-96).
