The 2021-22 season of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague will have its first postponement of the season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AX Armani Exchange Milan has six positive Covid-19 cases. Four of those six are players, while the other two – staff members.

In an official statement, the Italian club confirmed such reports, adding that team's activities will be suspended until December 27. Moreover, it is affirmed that the Italian Basketball League game against Virtus Bologna is suspended as well.

It is also reported that Armani Exchange’s game against Zalgiris Kaunas on Wednesday will be postponed.

BasketNews sources confirmed that the decision was made, and teams were informed that the game would be postponed.

On Tuesday at 11 am CET, EuroLeague released the official announcement about the game being suspended.

"The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 17 game between Zalgiris Kaunas and AX Armani Exchange Milan, originally scheduled to be played on Wednesday, December 22, has been suspended.

Milan requested the suspension due to local legislation imposing quarantine measures on the team after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves it without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.

Following the Special Regulations due to COVID-19, approved by the ECA Shareholders Executive Board, each game can be rescheduled up to three times, if there are available dates. Euroleague Basketball will coordinate with both teams the best options to reschedule the game.

Alternative dates will be announced on official Euroleague Basketball platforms once confirmed," per statement.

The game between Zalgiris and Armani Exchange was scheduled for Wednesday at 7 pm CET.

Armani Exchange are not the only team affected by Covid. Real Madrid currently have four positive cases, including head coach Pablo Laso and first-team players such as Vincent Poirier, Fabien Causeur, and Thomas Heurtel.

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona wingman Nigel Hayes-Davis is still in Athens as he was tested positive for Covid-19 while the Spanish powerhouse was on a trip during the double week of the EuroLeague.
