"During the fourth period of the game played last Thursday against Real Madrid, Shavon Shields reported a fracture of the right radius with capsuloligamentous involvement.
Further specialist evaluations will be needed to determine prognosis and therapeutic strategy. However, the recovery times for a return to the activity are expected to be long," the Italian club announced on Saturday.
Shields is expected to undergo surgery to resolve the problem on his right hand, a source told BasketNews.
With 44 seconds left on the clock, Shields drove to the basket but after a contact with Rudy Fernandez, he fell and started to experience pain in his right wrist. After the foul, Shields was unable to shoot the free throws and didn't enter the game again.
Shields was the top scorer for Milan in that game, finishing with 18 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals in the loss against Real.
